Bow Your Head, Sarah is a wonderfully written book that teaches the importance of instilling prayer in our children at a young age. Through a young girl by the name of Sarah, the writer displays the journey of a child growing closer to God and how her parents have played a major role in teaching her how to pray.

As Sarah prays and spends time with her family and friends, she finds out that her talks with God really works. Her mother first teaches her how to pray by giving her a praying journal to write down everything she is thankful for and over time, Sarah starts praying from her heart. The prayers become very sincere and in depth, Sarah even learns how to pray despite distractions.

Both the young and old can enjoy the book because it is very relatable and touching. As you read each page, you become more and more drawn in to Sarah’s character. One particular incident that many can relate to as a child is when we see someone we know doing something wrong and we are forced to tell or keep quiet. Well in the book, Sarah is in a convenience store when she sees a schoolmate stealing. She does not tell neither does she judges. Sarah just prays for the girl in hopes that she will one day realize that she was in the wrong and that God will forgive her.

Another great element that stands out in the story is how Sarah parents use Bible verses to explain and answer Sarah’s questions. We as the readers are being both entertained and informed about Bible verses that may or may not be familiar to us. It is a great guide or teaching tool for parents and their children. Sometimes it is kind of nice to teach our children through reading a book to them.

The family depicting in this book represents the very few who takes time help our children in their walk with God. Maybe it is because we struggle so much with our own walk; nevertheless, this book is extremely skillful. It is a must-read.
