The year 2007 has come and gone and has left many of us wondering about what the year 2008 has in store. Maybe you forgot to tell God you love him all last year or maybe just maybe, you forgot to count your blessings. Could it be that you turned your back on God because you felt like bad things happened continuously throughout the year? And now, you walk and carry out life with zombie like characteristics and you find yourself stuck in a rut because of what you did or did not do in 2007.
I want to ease your mind by saying that although you may feel a sense of hopelessness; you can never be too dead to be raised to resurrection. “But because of His great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, made us alive in Christ even when we were dead in transgressions- it is by grace you have been saved (Ephesians 2:4-5).”
According to the Webster Dictionary, resurrection is defined as the rising of Christ from the dead or the rising again to life of all the human dead before the final judgment. Resurrection happened many times in the Bible. Not only did Jesus die and rise again (Mark 16:5-7) but Lazarus was raised from the tomb (John 12:17), Jairus’s daughter was given life again (John 5:24) therefore; if you have a want-to attitude and the drive to rise up from your grave to invite God into your life, you can obtain God’s favor and experience the love of Christ.
Always remember that God never said that this road we travel would be easy. We are going to experience both happiness and trials and tribulations but in spite of it all, we cannot loose sight of where our help comes from. “Our help comes from the Lord who made the heavens and the earth, (Psalm 121:2).”
Take a moment to look back and reflect on all of the things that happened in 2007, then look forward to all of the great things that can happen in 2008. Begin today to make daily plans on how you can grow closer to God. Don’t just write it down; actually put your words into action. Thank God daily for giving you life just one more day, thank Him for what He has done and what He will do. Make sure to listen to God when He is directing your life.
You make the choice of how you will live out your life. The year 2007 does not have to be the same as 2008. Pray and give it to God so that you will never have to walk around dead again.
