Alice Walker once said, “Deliver me from writers who say the way they live doesn't matter. I'm not sure a bad person can write a good book, if art doesn't make us better, then what on earth is it for."

The poets of the Literary Voices Series under Regent Management might just agree with Ms. Walker. Poets gathered at The Black Academy of Arts and Letters for a night of true pleasure for devouring the mic with the Voices of Poetry #4.
Hosted by funnymen Sean LeE and Reign (the bad guy), words of wisdom and skill echoed through the audience like a sound wave. Attendees clapped and snapped their fingers in satisfaction after each writer.
Local Dallas lyricists talked about everything under the sun. Some might say that it was real talk at its best. Poems talked about those who choose to live beneath their means, facing self-identity issues, a woman’s worth, today’s music and desensitized America, which speaks truth to today’s society. And although they were told through playful anecdotes, they were true.
These poets understand that as African Americans they must speak and write about issues plaguing Black America in hope of making a change. The Voices of Poetry representatives refuse to take for granted the privilege to write and speak that once was hidden from them. This is why LyGlynn, the CEO of Regent Management has a deep passion for the spoken word.
“I first started in Atlanta with the Voices of Poetry Series but since I am from Dallas I decided to come back home and bring it here to help vocal artists that have books,” said LyGlynn.
