Radio Broadcasters Robert Ashley and Joe Bagby speak live on air doing the Breakfast Tribute at Full Gospel Holy Temple in Dallas. |
For over 50 years, radio broadcaster, Joe Bagby has remained a cornerstone in a top 10 media market. Known for introducing segments like “Somebody Ought to Say Something,” “Home Grown Gospel” and “Swap Shop,” Bagby understands the importance of reaching out to the community. And as a heavy-hitter in the community, Bagby has gained many fans from the young to the in between to the elderly who all want to thank Bagby for his support.
In a recent breakfast held at Full Holy Gospel Temple with Apostle Lobias Murray and presented by Golden Gate Funeral Home, Bagby along with Robert Ashley were able to give a live broadcasting filled with many of Bagby’s biggest fans. A band played smooth music while avid listeners laughed and watched in amazement to see firsthand what Bagby does best --entertain and inform.
Although, Bagby has experienced a few health issues, he continues to warm the mic by talking about everything under the sun. From politics, to both local and national news, Bagby has always been on top of current information. Some may say it has a lot to do with the fact that Bagby is a former Dallas County Constable and he keeps his eyes and hears on the city.
His love for radio was almost ended on last year. KHVN planned on stopping the broadcast on 970 AM, however Mortenson Broadcasting applied for a temporary extension. Many listeners were furious and made sure that their voice of concern was heard. The temporary extension was granted and today KHVN remains on 970 AM. KHVN has served Dallas/Ft. Worth for over 25 years. And the number of fans continues to grow. Joe Bagby is definitely a true legend in radio.
He once said, “you can hear me every morning, as long as I feel as good as I feel when I wake up in the morning.”
