Anointed, passionate, touching and powerful are words that describe gospel artist CeCe Godbolt. With her first project, “I Will Praise You,” CeCe is on her way to gaining national fame. The Camden, Arkansas native, now a Dallas resident started singing at age five and as a toddler, CeCe showed great interest in wanting to sing professionally.
Her father, Robert Godbolt was a member of a quartet called “The Four Kings” and they also had their own local radio station. As CeCe would watch her father perform, it was only natural for her singing abilities to shine. Growing up CeCe’s father taught her the importance of taking care of her gift.
“While growing up my dad used to say that drinking and smoking was not good for you and I listened to him so today I continue to take care of myself and I do not do any of those things for I am a vessel for God,” said CeCe. “I get plenty of rest and I take vitamins.”
And it shows. CeCe’s voice is so angelic. If you close your eyes doing a CeCe performance you can hear a bit of Patti Labelle mixed with a little bit of Yolanda Adams. The girl is bad and her first project is a reflection of how talented and blessed she is as she ministers through song.
CeCe and her husband, Dalton Domingue Jr. which she says is one of her biggest supporters, did not wait to get signed to a national label, instead they created their own record label called Creole Records. The husband and wife team are definitely a power-couple. They have been faithful in trying to reach the masses.
“When people buy this album I expect that God will rain down on them and they can find what they need,” said CeCe. “If you need a song that let’s you know that you can make it then you can find it on the album. I enjoy taking it back to the roots but I also sing a few contemporary songs.
The album “I Will Praise You” can be used as a guide of encouragement. Enjoy songs like the project title piece, “I Will Praise You,” CeCe’s rendition of “His Eyes is on The Sparrow,” “Jesus Loves Me” and “Grant Us Peace.” And even become touched with songs like “Tis So Sweet” and “I Surrender All.” Whatever song you listen to, prepare for a blessing. CeCe cannot “sing,” she can “sang.” And when someone says you can “sang” then that means that God has given you a wonderful gift.
