Talk about anointed, talk about music with flavor and a touching message, gospel-artist Bryan Wilson is back after eight years with his latest project – “A Second Coming.” This album is produced by Kris “Doc Sizzle” and co-produced by Bryan under his label Bryan’s Songs Production. The executive producers are Bill Carpenter and Robert Shanklin; therefore this album is definitely a must-have.
The former child star has been on the gospel circuit since he was 12-years-old. In 1994, Bryan sang with the Mississippi Children’s Choir with the soulful rendition of “His Eye is on the Sparrow.” Today many churches still sing his version. With his success, Bryan went on to receive Dove and Stellar award nominations and two solo CDS. And let’s not forget that as a young child he had the opportunity to tour with some of the best in the gospel world including Albertina Walker and his mentor the late James Moore.
The brother has soul. He shows his Pentacostal roots on “A Second Coming.” The project is an example of how Bryan has made a transition from a young boy to a grown man but not just a grown man but a man who has developed a closer relationship with God. He talks about struggles with giving up, becoming a Christian, smiling through the storms, depending on God and thanking God. Whatever message you are looking to hear, Bryan touches it.
This ablum is definitely different from his tradtional old school sounds. Oh, yes this project has more of a neo-soul contemporary spice. From young to old, the words are spirit filled and easy to understand. The beats are also a great blend of faith based urban rhythms. This was the first time that Bryan was able to be more hands on with a project and it shows.
Unlike some albums, “A Second Coming” is filled with back to back favorites. Enjoy songs like “Who? You”, “Sun is Shining”, “A Second Coming”, “Still My Father/God’s There”, “My Soul Boasts in the Lord”, “A Secret Place (Free Worship)” and many more. The eight- year break proved to be beneficial for the gospel sensation. Everything that he learned or experienced were compiled in this one project. So, if you are looking for one of the top gospel albums for 2008, “A Second Coming” is on the list. Check out Bryan on www.bryanwilson.com or myspace.com/bryanwilsonsinger.
