GAAP (God Answers All Prayers) Grant Writing Training is a faith-based, non-profit organization founded on the biblical scripture Matthew 7:7 - “Ask and it shall be given unto you, Seek and ye shall find, Knock and the door shall be opened unto you.” GAAP’s purpose is to effectively train, organize and equip grant-seeking organizations in the art of securing grants.  The organization is equipping churches and non-profit organizations with the necessary tools to form non-profit organizations, establish 501(c)3s, develop and implement grant proposals and ultimately to secure available grant funding.

The name is very distinctive, founder Annette Smith says that God sent it to her one day.

“I had another business before this one that catered to small businesses and personal situations but God placed a seed in me and said that He wanted me to cater to churches and non-profits,” said Ms. Smith. “ And when I was looking for a name I opened my Bible and God led me to Jeremiah 29:11 that talks about God’s plan in our lives. Then in the mist of it all God led me to Matthews 7:7-8 where God answers prayers.”

And today the certified paralegal prayers have been answered as she continues to follow God’s plan by helping churches city-wide.

“God’s desire is to supply ALL of our needs according to HIS riches in glory; there is no human need that lacks Divine provision,” said Ms. Smith. “ We must simply prepare to receive HIS provision (do our part) and He’ll do the rest.”

Ms. Smith first started GAAP by placing ads and having workshops. She says that she found out that there was a really big need.

“In the workshops I teach about the importance of kingdom building,” said Smith. “They learn what a grant is and how to establish a non-profit. In the pamphlets I have made, I researched about 2,000 websites that provide grants. Everything that I do is hands on.”

Ms. Smith also teaches people how to find scholarships for kids to go to college and develop business plans.

“GAAP’s concept is “Give a man a fish and he’ll eat for a day” but teach a man to fish and he’ll eat for a lifetime,” continued Ms. Smith.  “Most professional grant writers charge thousands of dollars to write grants and they can not make a guarantee you will receive the funding that is why it is so important for everyone to learn.”

Although, Ms. Smith finds it rewarding to teach faith-based organizations as a ministry for feeding knowledge, she becomes disappointed when people do not follow through.

“It is challenging after you see people attend the workshops and I make myself available to them but they refuse to utilize the resources,” replied Ms. Smith. “I call them sometimes and they have not done anything.

But this has not stopped Ms. Smith from helping to build kingdoms, her and her husband Edward Smith work hard to spread the word.

GAAP's According to Giving U.S. 2007, charitable giving reached a new record high in 2006, an estimated $295.02 Billion.  Texas alone received over $30 Billion in Federal Grant funding. So the money is there, but people must apply.
