The phenomenal musician, producer, workshop clinician and minister of music at The Potter’s House, Steve Lawrence recently wowed listeners again with his contribution to “Grace: The Kenya Experience” recorded live in Kenya during Bishop T. D. Jakes’ mission to Africa. The album recently won two Stellar Awards for traditional choir of the year and overall choir of the year.
“We’re excited to receive these awards,” Minister Lawrence said. “Our goal is always to capture the move of God in the service and allow the listener to experience the glory of God in their own homes and environments. It’s nice to be honored by our peers, but it’s not our mission. The mission is to see that the people are blessed.”
It is this focus on ministry to God’s people that has made Minister Lawrence a highly sought after workshop clinician, vocal coach and producer. His work on all of The Potter’s House albums has received several Stellar Awards, Gold record sales, and a Grammy award for the album “A Wing & a Prayer.” In addition to serving his pastor, Bishop Jakes, he’s collaborated with gospel’s greatest talents like Fred Hammond, Bill and Gloria Gaither, Donnie McClurkin, the Clark Sisters, and playwright and movie producer Tyler Perry.
Tye Tribbett, Kelly Price, and Vickie Winans have all hailed Lawrence’s gift and musical prowess. “Steve Lawrence is absolutely phenomenal! I have been to church after church around the country and the sound of The Potter’s House, the spirit and the anointing of this ministry is emulated around the country,” Winans exclaimed.
