Following the release of his highly successful albums “Still Standing” and “Embracing The Next Dimension,” Bishop Paul S. Morton is now presenting pastor Debra B. Morton’s “My Better Half.”
The Tehillah Music Group/Light Records’ project is currently in stores.
The CD showcases the powerful music and message of Debra Morton and the Daughters of the Promise Mass Choir. “My Better Half” is packed with uplifting performances of songs such as “Victory In Praise” and “Where There’s a Will There’s There’s a Way” as well as anointed exhortations by Evangelist Sandra Riley, Beverly Crawford, Dr. Aretha Wilson, Pastor Nancy Wilson, and Pastor Debra B. Morton.
Pastor Morton balances the roles of wife, mother, grandmother, pastor, entrepreneur, daughter, mentor and friend with great finesse. Since the beginning of her ministerial work, Pastor Morton has continued to empower women starting with being one of the first female elders to preach in the Baptist pulpit.
Born and raised in New Orleans, LA, Debra Brown Morton (affectionately referred to as "Co") is the epitome of "Every Woman". Debra has dedicated the last three decades of her life to making the world an easier place to live for thousands of parishioners, their children, and others in the community.
In 1993, Debra was ordained an Elder. Alongside her husband, Pastor Morton diligently serves Great St. Stephen Full Gospel Baptist Church – one of the largest congregations in New Orleans – where she has most recently been installed as the Senior Pastor while also serving as co-pastor for Changing a Generational Full Gospel Baptist Church in Atlanta, under the ministry hand of Bishop Paul S. Morton.
. She received her Bachelor of Arts Degree from the University of New Orleans and has received countless accolades for her civic and community contributions, which led to her selection as YMCA Role Model of the Year. Her current program, launched in 2007, is The Power Woman Initiative where her goal is to positively impact the lives of women by nurturing and empowering them to succeed as leaders in their homes, jobs, church, and community. She is General Overseer of the Full Gospel Baptist Church Fellowship International Women's Ministry known as the Daughters of the Promise where her vision is to build and operate a home for troubled teenage girls House Of Promise.
Prior to Hurricane Katrina, Debra owned a coffee shop, salon & spa, clothing boutique, elementary school, and co-owned a hotel-operated spa. She also published a magazine, Women of Excellence, and hosted a television show, Morning Coffee, which aired on several Gospel television outlets. Today, one spa is operating, and she launched a new fragrance line, Blessings In A Bottle, in June 2007.
Debra is a nationally renowned motivational/inspirational speaker, sharing the platform at such events as Essence Music Festival and MegaFest, as well as churches and Womens Empowerment Summits across the country. Prior to the storm, her primary focus was offering aid and support to women and especially single mothers and their children by hosting a yearly Women Of Excellence (WOE) Conference which raised funds to benefit the Eljeanette White Parent/Child Center for computer literacy and a Pantry where families could find items that they needed for daily living (pampers, baby food, blankets, etc).
She is the author of several books, with her latest effort, I'm in Love With My Pastor, But He Still Has Two Wives, being released in June 2007. She is presently penning a forthcoming devotional focusing on empowering women and helping them achieve balance in their daily lives. Her books include: Morning Coffee, The New Millennium Question: Where is the Lord God of Elijah?, Seize Opportunity- It's Your Season, and Help, My Husband Has Two Wives. In addition to prophetically proclaiming the Word of God, Debra is the Executive Producer of the hit album entitled "Where There Is A Will, There Is A Way", featuring The Women of Excellence Mass Choir.
Some may say she has weathered her share of storms, having supported her husband during a very public mental breakdown, lost her first grandchild to a sudden illness and recovered from Hurricane Katrina just in time to help her husband battle and defeat prostate cancer. Her strength alone is inspiration to millions of people around the world as she continues to live by her ultimate belief that one must "seek ye first the kingdom of God and his righteousness and all these things shall be added unto you" (Matthew 6:33). She is the mother of three, Jasmine (Elvin), PJ, and Christy, and grandmother of one- Elvin, Jr.
