Live Unapologetically

by Tanisha Griffin

I am one that has been ridiculed, ostracized, separated, rejected and flat out told I was wrong for many things that I have either said or done to others.  But you know what I had to conclude; I will live my life unapologetic to anyone for my actions, words or deeds.

I do not answer to you, and you do not answer to me.  Whatever decisions I make and the consequences they hold are between me and the Father.  If I have said something to hurt your feelings, then you need to pray about that.  Could it be that my words are true?  If I have done something to offend you, feel free to see me about it, but was I wrong or could your perception have been construed?

I want to encourage you to live your life free from guilt, free from worry, and free from other’s people’s feelings because people will have you running to and fro doing only what’s pleasing to them.  Worry about pleasing yourself and your own happiness.  As long as you are not sinning or breaking any laws, walk daily with an unapologetic attitude.  It will free you from having to use your neighbors measuring stick against your own life.

Keep in mind, this is a two-way street.  You cannot go around expecting people to meet your expectations either.  They are your expectations, not theirs so others have to live according to what’s right in their eyes.  Can we express our opinions about a situation?  Of course!  No one is telling you to live in silence and let everyone go about care-free doing what they want, but after your opinion has been expressed, leave it at that and agree to disagree.

I took inspiration partly from Commissioner John Wiley Price’s resent disagreement.  I admire that he is able to stand up for himself and stand by his convictions unapologetically.  It takes a strong person to do that and the rest of the world shouldn’t be so critical of such.  Maybe if everyone took a stand for what they felt, we wouldn’t have so much lying, cheating, stealing, killing, back biting, hatefulness and rudeness.

With Love,

Nisha
