- DECIDE YOU WANT TO STOP RENTING. Decide today is the day you will stop paying your landlord’s mortgage and begin to build equity for yourself in your own home.
- CONTACT YOUR REALTOR, CCREF, to help your know your rights.
- CONTACT YOUR LOAN OFFICER, and or a mortgage broker/banker to get pre-qualified to determine your purchasing power. Don’t forget to shop around for different loans, rates and terms.
- ASK AND LEARN ABOUT PROGRAMS TO HELP YOU BUY, again ask your realtor, CCREF, and or your loan officer about different programs that may help you with your down payment and closing costs.
- LOOK FOR THE PERFECT HOME WITH YOUR REALTOR, CCREF. Tell your realtor the area, the price and some features you want in your new home.
- MAKE AN OFFER WITH YOUR REALTOR, CCREF, AND PUT UP EARNEST MONEY. Your realtor will help you negotiate the offer and enter into a binding contract.
- DO YOUR INSPECTION and negotiate the repairs, if necessary. After repairs are complete, don’t forget to do a “walk-thru”.
- GET YOUR HOME-OWNER’S INSURANCE, talk with your auto insurance agent, usually there is a discount for multi-policies.
- CONGRATULATIONS…GO TO CLOSE…YOU ARE NOW A HOME-OWNER!
