Give Thanks

by Tanisha Griffin

God sure has a funny sense of humor!  Have you ever asked for something (in prayer) and it was delivered, but not in the package you would have guessed?  Funny huh!  Certainly not while you’re going through it, but what does God do?  Quietly remind you of the moment you made your request.  That’s when it really gets hilarious right?  Not!  Even though we face trying times, the Word of God tells us, “In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.” (I Thessalonians 5:18)

Recently we had some terrible storms blow through the city.  Tornadoes were in every direction and lots of homes were destroyed.  What a sad place to be, but what if God sent that storm so you could be blessed with a new home?  What if He had been telling you to move and you wouldn’t listen so He had to force you out?  What if He used the storm for you to be able to minister to your Insurance Adjuster?  What if you didn’t have insurance at all and some kind of way all of your repairs were made.

We never know how God is going to move, but our job is to praise him anyway and give thanks.  I know you don’t understand every situation you face and guess what; neither did Job, but through it all, Job said blessed be the name of the Lord.  This was a man that had lost it all, but in that situation he found a reason to give God thanks.

You may have lost your job, but thank God for making room for a better paying more fulfilling job.  Your spouse may have walked out on you, but thank for God taking out the trash and bringing in your treasure.  Your friends and family may have forsaken you, but thank God for wanting to draw you closer to him.  My point is, whatever state you find yourself in, be thankful.  Have an attitude of gratitude.  God has a plan and you are in it.  He hasn’t forgotten about you.  He even told you that EVERYTHING works together for good unto them that are called according to his plan and his purpose.  Remember this, when praises go up, blessings do come down; and what are praises – giving thanks.

Be blessed,
Tanisha
